Where MIG earns its place
MIG (gas metal arc welding, GMAW) feeds wire continuously under a shielding gas, so a welder lays down more metal per hour than with stick welding and repeats the same weld consistently. That makes it the process of choice in fabrication shops for frames, skids, brackets, sheet-metal ductwork and production runs. The skill is in setting the machine: voltage, wire feed speed and gas flow for the joint and thickness in front of the welder.
