Welder Supply in Saudi Arabia

6G and 3G describe welding positions; TIG, MIG and stick (SMAW) describe processes. They sit next to each other on a rate card and are often confused, but a welder qualified on vertical plate is not automatically right for fixed-position pipe, and a welder who is excellent on carbon steel may not be the right hand for stainless or alloy. Gulf Orbit's register lists five welder trades: 6G X-ray, TIG/argon, MIG, 3G and general welders. Welders are not qualified by a TUV card. They are qualified by a welder performance qualification (WPQ) test, for the process, position, material group and thickness range the job needs. Send your welding procedure (WPS) with the RFQ and ask for the WPQ record with every CV. Many sites also run their own trade test before a welder is accepted on a joint; say so in the RFQ, with what it covers, and workers are put forward against that standard.

The decision that counts is made on your site: the trade test, and then the first joints that go to radiography or other inspection. Plan for it. Agree when the test runs, who witnesses it, and what happens if a welder does not pass, before the crew mobilizes. Track the first results by welder, so a problem is found on the first joints rather than the fiftieth. See before you accept a welder on site.

A welder can only weld the joint presented to them. Poor alignment or an out-of-tolerance bevel produces repairs no matter how good the welder is. When pipe fitters and welders arrive as one crew under one supervisor, that interface is managed inside the crew instead of becoming an argument on your site. In a turnaround, welders are among the trades that run out first, because the whole region competes for the same people in the same weeks. Send the window dates as soon as they are fixed, with the welding procedures, so WPQ records can be checked before the window.
