When scaffolder supply is the right request

Two different asks often arrive in the same words. If you already have scaffolding material and a supervisor and what you are short of is hands, that is scaffolder supply: you direct the crew, we supply and administer the workers. If you need material as well, that is scaffolding rental and erection, and it is quoted differently. Saying which you mean in the first message saves a round of questions. What changes between building work and industrial work

A scaffolder who has only worked on building sites is not automatically ready for a refinery. Industrial access work carries permit-to-work discipline, confined-space and hot-work interfaces, tighter inspection regimes, and shutdown schedules that do not move. We match on that distinction rather than on job title alone, so tell us the site type and not only the headcount.

Planning headcount around the work front

Scaffolding demand is rarely flat. It spikes when a work front opens and again when it closes, and sits lower in between. If you share the phase dates rather than a single average number, the crew can be sized to the peak and scaled back after it, which is usually cheaper than holding a flat headcount for the whole period.

What to check before they start

Match each scaffolder's TUV card to the copy sent with the CV: name, iqama number and expiry date. Check that the card stays valid for the full duration of your requirement, not just on the start date.
On an Aramco site, state which workers must be Aramco-certified and review their card copies before you approve the CVs, not at the gate.
Brief the crew on your site's scaffold tagging system, and on who is authorised to inspect and tag, before the first scaffold is handed over.
If your site runs a practical test, such as erecting a short bay in your system, say so in the RFQ so it is planned before mobilization rather than on arrival.
Check the crew knows the system your site uses. Tube-and-fitting experience does not transfer automatically to Cuplock or Ringlock, and the reverse is also true.

Typical crew shape

A scaffolding crew is rarely scaffolders alone. Helpers carry, sort and pass material so the scaffolders stay on the build, and a scaffold foreman or supervisor plans the sequence, coordinates with your permit issuer and hands each scaffold over for inspection. How many helpers you need depends on the system, the carry distance and the height. Send the work fronts and dates, and the crew is proposed as a whole rather than as a headcount.
