Scaffolding Rental Price in Saudi Arabia: What Sets It
How scaffolding rental is priced in Saudi Arabia, per square metre, per cubic metre, per piece or as a lump sum, and the eight things that move the price. What to send for an accurate quotation and how to compare two quotes.

There is no single scaffolding price in Saudi Arabia, because each quotation prices a different scaffold. Suppliers quote per square metre of facade, per cubic metre of access, per piece or tonne of material per day or month, or as a lump sum for a full scope. The price moves with the system, the quantity and height, the rental period, whether erection and dismantling are included, how often the scaffold is modified, the site and transport, supervision and cards, and the site's own rules. Send drawings or heights, dates and the location to get a price you can compare.
Key takeaways
- Ask every supplier to price the same unit: per m², per m³, per piece per month or lump sum.
- Material only and rental with erection are different services, so compare them separately.
- Transport both ways, modifications, idle days and the return count can change the final bill more than the rental rate.
- Rental services in Saudi Arabia carry 15% VAT; check whether each quote shows it.

How scaffolding rental is priced
Scaffolding quotations in Saudi Arabia use one of four units, and two quotes in different units cannot be compared until they are converted.
Per square metre (m²): common for facades. The area is the length of the scaffold times its height.
Per cubic metre (m³): common for birdcages and access inside plants and halls, where the scaffold fills a volume.
Per piece or per tonne, per day or month: common for material-only rental, where you erect the scaffold yourself and pay for what leaves the yard.
Lump sum: one price for a defined scope, such as access to a tank or a building elevation, usually with erection, modification and dismantling included.
Ask which unit is used and what it includes before comparing figures. The scaffolding calculator works out the area, volume, bays and lifts from your dimensions.
The eight things that move the price
Every rental price is built from the same drivers. The table shows what each one is and why it changes the figure.
| Driver | What it covers | Why the price changes |
|---|---|---|
| System | Cuplock, ringlock or tube and coupler | Systems differ in material per square metre and in erection time |
| Quantity and height | Work fronts, heights, cantilevers, loading bays | More material and more labour hours; height adds ties and bracing |
| Rental period | How long each structure stays up | Rental is charged for every day or month the material is on site |
| Erection scope | Material only, or erection and dismantling by the supplier | Labour is often the largest part of a full-scope price |
| Modifications | How often the scaffold is changed as work moves | Each change needs a crew visit and sometimes extra material |
| Site and transport | City, distance, laydown space, gate access | Delivery and collection trips, waiting time at gates |
| Supervision and cards | Supervisors, TUV-carded scaffolders, site-approved supervisors | Carded and approved staff cost more and may be required |
| Site rules | Permits, inspection and tagging, working hours | Night work, permits and inspection time add hours |
Material only or rental with erection
Material-only rental prices the scaffolding itself: delivery, the rental days and collection. Your own crew erects, inspects under your procedure, modifies and dismantles it, and you answer for missing or damaged pieces at the return count.
Rental with erection adds the supplier's crew for erection, modification and dismantling through to handover. The price is higher, but it carries the labour, and the scaffold is handed over per structure under your site's inspection and tagging.
Which is cheaper depends on whether you already have competent scaffolders on site. See scaffolding rental or scaffolder supply for the four routes side by side.
Costs that are easy to miss
Two quotations with the same rate can end with different bills. Check each quote for these lines.
- Transport to site and back, and whether collection is a separate charge.
- Minimum rental period, and how part months are charged.
- Modifications: included, priced per visit, or per hour.
- Idle days: whether rental runs while work is stopped.
- Losses and damage: how missing or damaged pieces are priced at the return count.
- Cleaning or repair of material returned with concrete, paint or insulation on it.
- Supervisor, inspection and tagging time, if your site needs them from the supplier.
- VAT: rental services in Saudi Arabia carry 15% VAT.
What to send for an accurate quotation
A quotation is only as precise as the request behind it. Send these with the RFQ, and the price comes back for your scaffold rather than an estimate.
- Drawings, or the length and height of each work front, with photos of the area.
- The type of work on the scaffold: facade, painting, insulation, mechanical, shutdown.
- Start date and how long each structure stays up.
- Material only, or with erection, modification and dismantling.
- Site location, gate and permit rules, and working hours.
- Who inspects and tags the scaffold under your procedure, and whether TUV-carded scaffolders or approved supervisors are required.
- A preferred system, if your site specifies one.
How to compare two quotations
Put the quotes in one table with the same unit, the same scope and the same period. Then compare the lines from the list above, not only the rate. A lower rate with paid modifications, separate collection and strict loss charges can cost more than a higher all-in price. Ask each supplier for the system, the quantity they priced and the assumptions behind it, so you can see whether they priced the same scaffold. The scaffolding parts names guide helps check material lists line by line.

Frequently asked questions
Does Gulf Orbit publish scaffolding rental prices?
No. Each quotation is priced from the system, quantity and height, rental period, erection scope, modifications, site and transport, supervision and site rules. Send drawings or heights, dates and the location, and a complete RFQ gets a reply within 24 hours.
How is the price per square metre of scaffolding worked out?
The area is the length of the scaffold times its height. The rate per square metre then depends on the system, the rental period and whether erection, modification and dismantling are included, so ask what each rate covers before comparing.
Is scaffolding cheaper per month than per day?
Many suppliers quote rental per month, with a minimum period, and charge part months by the day or as a full month. Ask how the period is counted and whether rental continues while work is stopped.
Does the scaffolding price include VAT?
Rental services in Saudi Arabia carry 15% VAT. Some quotations show prices before VAT and add it at the end, so check each quote before comparing totals.
What makes two scaffolding quotations hard to compare?
Different units, different scope and hidden lines: transport, minimum period, modifications, idle days and loss charges. Convert the quotes to the same unit and scope, then compare those lines one by one.
